Workshops

On June 18th, one day after the main deegree day 2008 conference, two worshops have been offered. A description of the workshop contents may be found below.

deegree-3D
Since Google Earth has been released, 3D geo applications become more and more common. The deegree-3D workshop will demonstrate deegree in the context of 3-dimensional geodata. You will learn how to set up and configure deegree Web Perspective View Service (WPVS) to publish 3D-views. This task is similar to publishing maps through the Web Map Service (WMS) interface. You will be introduced to deegree WFS configuration for handling CityGML as well as exporting KML. You will use deegree's 3D-viewer to convert VRML- and 3D-shapefile files into CityGML and how to integrate them into your WPVS. Another topic of interest is the export of CityGML objects into 3D-shapefiles.
Although this workshop will give an introduction on 3D modelling, people taking part need to have basic knowledge of using deegree web services and of the basic concepts of XML, GML, KML and 3D aspects.

deegree Configuration
Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) users are often overwhelmed by the complexity of deegree web services and iGeoPortal. This workshop targets users who are not very much experienced in deegree administration and who want to learn how to use deegree’s ConfigTool.

A DVD containing all necessary components to instantly set up and run an SDI will be introduced. This enables the user to quickly get deegree WMS, WFS, WCS and CS-W up and running without digging into configuration files. Find out that configuration of WMS, WFS and WCS with deegree's ConfigTool is as easy as handling data locally. Adding new data sources, layers, coverages or defining a style for a WMS layer can easily be done just by entering and changing values through a graphical user interface (GUI) that comes along as an OpenJUMP plugin.

You also will learn how to adapt the layout of iGeoPortal to your requirements.
